Blue Tansy essential oil is the star ingredient of this botanical-based lip treatment. The yellow flowers from the Blue Tansy plant, Tanacetum annuum, are related to chamomile. The essential oil extracted from these blossoms is a vibrant blue color, thanks to a compound called chamazulene. Other compounds found in blue tansy extract include sabinene, camphor, myrcene, and pinene. It is widely believed that these botanical compounds possess anti-inflammatory benefits, as well as the ability to increase skin healing. Our organic blue tansy oil is sourced from Morocco, and we use a generous 2% therapeutic concentration to maximize the healing properties of this wonderful ingredient.
Make sure your Blue Tansy natural products actually contain a meaningful amount of this costly essential oil! Blue Tansy is a highly pigmented essential oil, and extremely small quantities are capable of turning an entire batch of lotion or balm a pretty blue color. Buyer beware! See photo to see just how little difference in color there is between a 2.5% solution and a 1% or even a 0.4% solution.
Our vegan Blue Tansy Lip Balm base is 75% organic, and includes skin healing cocoa butter, mango butter, sweet almond oil and meadowfoam seed oil (The blue color will not transfer to the lips.)
No artificial scents or flavorings have been added to this lip balm. Because it is a natural product, it is unsweetened to prolong its shelf-life and avoid the necessity of preservatives.
The natural scent and flavor of blue tansy is a surprising combination of berries and pink peppercorns. In aromatherapy, blue tansy is considered calming, and we agree.
Our premium paper lip balm containers are sticker-free and plastic-free, and hold more lip balm than drugstore brand plastic tubes, despite the shorter proportion of the cardboard tube. Looks can be deceiving! To use, simply apply pressure to the bottom of the tube and push the balm up, as needed (like a push-pop!).

However, these paper tubes actually contain significantly MORE usable product than those plastic screw-up tubes, which retain quite a bit of unusable balm at the bottom.
